Why Can’t I Send to the USA?

Due to recent changes in US regulations, all messages sent to US numbers must be sent using a registered TFN (Toll-Free Number). Until your TFN is fully registered and approved, you cannot send SMS or MMS messages to recipients in the United States.

Important: This requirement applies to all senders, regardless of message type. No messages will be delivered to US numbers until your TFN registration is complete and approved.

What Does This Mean?

When you first sign up, your number is considered unregistered. To begin sending messages to the USA, you must complete the TFN registration process:

  • Submit a TFN application through ClickSend.
  • Once reviewed and approved by ClickSend, your application is forwarded to US carriers for final verification.
  • Messages cannot be sent to US numbers until carrier approval is finalised.
  • Carrier verification typically takes between 1–7 days.
  • After approval, your TFN is considered registered, and you can send messages to US recipients as normal.
