Intro to Integrating Swim & Shopify

What is the Swim and Shopify integration?

A live two way sync between Swim and Shopify is provided to allow stock, sales and customer information to be shared between both platforms automatically. TJS has completed all necessary development work to connect Swim and Shopify and you will leverage an in house created Shopify app to sync data between the two platforms.

What can the Swim and Shopify integration provide my business?

The Swim and Shopify integration provides many features such as automatically syncing stock entered into Swim across to Shopify, matching customer profiles between both platforms and real time sales creation in Swim when your customers make a purchase online. If you are considering the Swim & Shopify integration we recommend reading through all of the knowledgebase articles and then contacting Swim support for a demo of the integrations capabilities.

The Shopify integration provides two stock sync methods to cater to our users needs. The sync methods determine how stock will appear on your website and both options provide various functionality differences. It is important that you take the time to consider which sync method is best suited for your business, as changing the methods after Swim and Shopify is integrated is not possible without considerable data work being necessary.

What are the two stock sync methods?

Supplier Sync:

Supplier sync allows you to leverage supplier codes for mass grouping of products. The supplier sync should be used when you are offering your customers a choice between large amounts of variant stock such as products available in multiple fingers sizes, metal types and styles from a single Shopify page.

Example:

You sell rings that are available in two different metal types and three finger sizes and you wish to show one single product page in Shopify. You should link your products together by supplier code and leverage the supplier sync to accomplish this single product page.

Supplier codes structure you would use (note the supplier code value can be named anything you desire, this is purely an example to show the structuring)

YBC152045001014 is linked to YBC152045001016 & WBC073230002019 - This provides three unique supplier codes in Swim to share with Shopify that is isolating Gucci Rings that are Yellow Gold, White Gold and sizes 14, 16 and 19.

The end result by using the supplier sync is a single product page in Shopify that provides your customers with the choice of a ring style that is available in Gold, White Gold and various finger sizes.

If you sell mostly unique or one off pieces of jewellery or would prefer seperate product pages in Shopify for variant stock greater than one variant choice, please see the Stock Sync method below.

Stock Sync:

Stock sync provides a quick and simple way to sync products to your Shopify website. Items can be shown separately or linked together online on a per stock number basis. The Stock Sync method does not require a separated area to work on your web items and instead makes use of the existing item details page. The Stock Sync is ideal for businesses who sell unique or one off pieces of jewellery or sell small amounts of variant products.

Non Variant example:

You sell rings that are available in two metal types with one on hand of each ring.

G1234 - Gold Ring

G2345 - Silver Ring

Each of the rings could have their own products page in Shopify by simply changing the WEB ITEM value on the item details page for each product to YES.

A single products page for both products could be created in Shopify by linking the STOCK NUMBER of each item together as a Variant.

Variant example:

G1234 is set as a VARIANT OF G2345 with a VARIANT OPTION of Metal Type.

In this example a single products page is created in Shopify that allows the customer to choose Gold or Silver from a drop down menu before purchasing the ring. Depending on the choice the customer makes the relevant gold or silver ring is then automatically sold in Swim.

How often does the Sync run?

The sync runs every 60 seconds and works on a queue based system, this means if you have made large amount of changes since the last sync has run, then the oldest change will be made first and then the remaining changes are processed.

Is the Shopify Integration included in my subscription?
