How to refund a Deposit Sale
Deposit sales are in a state that can be edited, so they do not necessarily need to be refunded.
The first step is to correct the sale if possible. So firstly if the item is incorrect, remove the item or edit the item and add in the correct items to the sale. If the payment is incorrect, edit or remove the payment.
If the edit or remove options are not available, then you will need to refund the sale.
To refund a Deposit Sale, you can:
- - Click 'Cancel Sale & Exit' or 'Refund sale' and select the payment type that you want to use to refund. The refund is then complete. Note: with the 'Cancel sale & Exit' option you do not have the cancellation fee option.
- - Click Convert into a lay-by sale, then select 'refund'. This option will enable you to see the full refund page and process the refund as normal.
Note: A original deposit sale upon refund will automatically become a layby sale. The reason for this is to force the 'deposit' sale into a posted state. This is essential as the sale needs to be posted (regarded as 'sold) in order for it to be refunded)
