Performing a refund or exhange where the original sale was at another store



Initial Setup: At each store, create a payment type called 'Refund across stores'. Set the banking type to non applicable.  

Steps

 
If performing a refund and issuing as customer credit
On the original stores system (where the sale was made), find the sale and click 'refund'. Refund the entire sale or part of the sale (selecting just the items being returned) and select the payment type 'customer credit''. Print the receipt and exit the sale. (Note: this returns the item/s to stock at that store and leaves the customer credit at that store. The customer can then use that credit across any of your stores at a later date see customer credit across stores)
 
If performing an exchange
1. On the original stores system (where the sale was made), find the sale and click 'refund'. Refund the entire sale or part of the sale (selecting just the items being returned) and select the payment type 'refund across stores'. Print the receipt and exit the sale. (Note: this returns the item/s to stock at that store)
2. At this store, select new sale. In the 'store' drop down list select original store where the customer was entered and search for the customer. Select the customer and select to make the sale
2b. Make the sale as per normal, entering the items they are purchasing. In the payment field enter the amount of the refund and then select the payment type 'refund across stores'. If further payments need to be made, enter those payments.
2c. Print the receipt and exit the sale
 
If perform a refund and issuing cash
1. On the original stores system (where the sale was made), find the sale and click 'refund'. Refund the entire sale or part of the sale (selecting just the items being returned) and select the payment type 'refund across sstores''. Print the receipt and exit the sale. (Note: this returns the item/s to stock)
2. At this store, select sales menu, post end of day and selech cash drawer payment at the bottom of the screen.  Select the supplier as yourself or not assigned, select the expense type as 'sales revenue', enter the amount being given back to the customer. In the comments field enter the customer, job number and original store. Click to save (note:this step ensures the cash will tally correctly at the end of day)
 
Correctlng the stock location
At the store where the original sale was made, transfer the stock item to this store (where the item is being returned) 
 
Note: This is a work around until the refunds between stores feature is live in Swim
